What does it really MEAN to be a
FAMILY?
Seems ridiculous at first doesn't it?
What IS a family?
Naturally each of us is very uh..."familiar"
with our own surroundings and social mores and culture.
But it is a very diverse world in which we live. Just because Dad (or Mom) cracks the whip a certain way in the US-doesn't mean it works that way in India, Peru or Sweden.

Yes, we can even have family defined as "any of our immediate social groups within which we feel a strong sense of friendship, bonding
or belonging. Without this social mechanism we would not be here.
After all, when we humans were
learning to literally survive on Earth, THIS system and its set of skills, led to our world dominance. The first "industrial" civilizations did not flourish until groups began to sow seed and manage farm land in the Middle East's region known as "The Fertile Crescent". From there, people had to move east and west to develop more land and feed more and more people. So, even once humanity began to embark on the world we have today, the concept of family and teamwork was vital to survival of our race.
Without our being able to define "family", we most definitely would have perished. YOU would not be reading this page, I would never have written it and this amazing and frustrating little mechanical contraption we call a PC could never have been conceived!
